Be it known'that I, EDMUND G. TOOKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Larchmont, Westchester county, New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

My invention relates to improvements in hose-supporters, and particularly to a feature useful for the adjustment of what is termed shirred hose-supporters. Supporters of this character in the past have been non-adjustable or else adjustable by methods which are not generally satisfactory. The object of my invention is to construct a hose-supporter of artistic and ornamental design in such a manner that the same may be adjusted readily in length and still maintain at all times a direct and even tension when in use.

The invention consists in attaching a fastener to the main strap of the hose-supporter below the shirred position, in passing the doubledend of a two-part extension through this fastener, in concealing the fastener by an ornamental device,'and in the details of construction in which this is made possible. The extensions may be adjusted through the fastener to any length desired and still maintain a direct and uniform tension when in use.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of a single member of a hose-supporter embodyering is secured to the elastic strap A at the top and bottom, and the entire construction is usually supported from the lower edge of the corset. Two of the members shown in Fig. 1

constitute a pair, one of these being securedat the right and the other at the left of the front of the-corset.

D is a short tube which surrounds the ends of the loop C for holding them in position.

E is a frame which is carried by the lower bar ofthe loop C.

F is a slide mounted on the frame E, about which the extension members or tapes to be secured in place are attached, as shown in Fig. 2.

G and H are the two tapes, usually of nonelastic material,which carry buttons and loops at the lower ends, as is usual in constructions of this character. The upper ends of the tapes G and H are united or secured together at J or made of one piece. It will be plainly seen from an inspection of the drawings that the ends of the tapes are passed through the frame E and around the slide F and held in place by the tension applied when in use.

K is a bow constituting an ornamental device secured to the strap A and concealing the lower end of the strap and the fastener.

To adjust the" length of the supporter, the tapes are drawn through the frame to the position desired, and one may be made longer or shorter, as desired. It will be noted that the pull on the frame is a direct pullno matter at what point adjustment is made,,so that the device is eflicient in use.

These extension straps or tapes G and H are preferably formed of non-elastic material in order to confine the elasticity of the supporter to the main strap.

What I claim is 1. A hose-supporter comprising a main strap, a shirred covering therefor, an adjusting-fastener carried by said strap, a pair of extension straps or tapes having their ends united, the ends of both of said straps passing through the fastener and being adjustably gripped therein, substantially as described.

2. A hose-supporter comprising a single main strap adapted to be secured to a corset or the like, a fastener secured to the lower end of said. strap and a pair of extension-tapes having their ends united, the united ends of said tapes passing through said fastener and an adjusting fastener secured at the lower end thereof, a pair of extension-tapes having the united ends passing through said fastener and adjustable therein for increasing or decreasing the length of both tapes simultaneously and an ornamental device secured in front of and concealing said fastener.
