To all whom, it may concern:

.- Be it known that I, HERBERT H. VVALLEY, a

' citizen of the United States of America, residing at North Adams, in the county of Berkshire and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cuff-Holders, of which the following is'a specification.

This invention relates to cuff-fasteners, and is designed as an improvement on my patent issued November 17, 1903, and numbered An object of this invention is to provide 1 novel means for attaching the cuff-holder to the sleeve of a garment, the said holder being readily applied and removed in order that oneset of holders may be used with a number of garments without permanently attaching the said holder to the garment.

A further object of this invention is to provide novel pin-engaging members in certain relation to the body of the holder whereby accidental disengagement of the pin is obviated, yet affording ready means for the deltachdment of the pin when properly manipuate Finally, an object of the invention is to provide a cuff-holder having novel means for attaching the said holder in place, the said means comprising few inexpensive parts which will prove eiiicient and satisfactory in use.

With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists in the details of.

construction and in the arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully set forth and specifically claimed.

J In describing the invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying draw-' In the drawings, A indicates the body of the holder, having aspring-tongue B, the said body and tongue being similar in construction and arrangement to those parts disclosed in the patent aforesaid.

In the application of the attaching means the edges (0 of the body are cut away, as at a, to form recesses. Spurs 0 are formed integral with the edge of the body on each side, the said spurs preferablytapering toward their ends and the said spurs being curved toward the longitudinal center of the body, with the extremities of the said spurs bent within thearea of the recesses, so that the said extremities of the spurs are inside of the planes of the edges of the body.

From an inspection of Fig. 1 it will be observed that this construction-produces engaging members for the pins and that the pins may be applied thereto readily by' causing the said pins to engage the edges aof the body and then passing the said pin along the edges until the recesses a are reached, when they will enter the recesses and come in contact with the engaging members 0. In removing the pins. they can be pressed against the walls of the recesses and made to follow the said walls until they pass out between the extremities of the spurs and the edges of the body. The pins D have eyes cl, which are looped into apertures E in the sides of body opposite the engaging members heretofore described, -so that the said pins may be inserted in the fabric and then interlocked with the engaging members for the purpose of retaining the said cuff-holder in place. i The body of the holder comprises a metallic plate having longitudinal corrugations 2,

the spur C and pins D, are duplicated; but

provision is made for exerting tension on the said pins, and this is accomplished through the medium of small ribs F, which are pressed from the body and extend beyond said body in line With the pins in order that the central portion of said pins may contact With the said ribs. By this construction a suitable pressure is required in order to seat the ends of the pins in their retaining members, and undue play or movement of the pins is prevented While the parts are in the position shoWn in Fig. 2. This latter construction Will be found advantageous Where the fastener is to be applied to very light material, as it Will prevent movement of the pins with relation to the engaging members thereof.

Having fully described the invention, What 1 claim as neW, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. In a cuff-holder, a suitable body having a longitudinal rib in its center; a pin pivoted to one edge of the body and extended across the rib and coacting therewith, and means on the opposite edge of the body for engaging the said pin.

2. In a culf-holder, a body having a bent surface forming a longituinal rib, pins pivoted to the edges of the body and keepers formed in the edges of the body opposite the pivots of the pins, the said keepers comprising spurs projecting from the edges of the body, the said edges having recesses into which the ends of the pins extend, substantially as described.

3. In a cuff-holder, a suitable body having corrugations forming a longitudinal rib, pins pivoted to the body, the edges of said body having recesses, spurs projecting from the edges of the body adjacent the recesses, the said spurs being curved to form keepers, and the ends of said spurs terminatingwithin the area of the recesses, and the said rib coacting with the pins to retain said pins under tension.

4. In a cuff-holder, a suitable body having means for engaging a cufl, the edges of the holder having recesses, spurs projecting from the edges of the body and curved to form engaging members, the ends of the spurs terminating within the area of the recesses and inside the planes of the edges of the body, and

pins loosely connected to the edges of the body opposite the engaging members and means for retaining the pins under tension.
