Figure 2 is a cross-section in the line a: .fe,vg. 1. Similar letters of reference indicate ylike parts.
This invention relates to anew and useful im rovement in a. clhm forholdin alm-lea-f'war ,to hel P P g P P attached to the apron of the cloth-beam' o f a. loom for weaving palm-leaf web for hoods, or other purposes. It
'c'onsists in two small strips of hard wood, or other suitable material, jointed together at one end, sotha't they can lie together or ne opened widely apar-Lon one of 'which pieces is a. t'on'gue that ts into a groove in the other piece, running longitudinally, for holding firmly the end. of the palm-leaf Warp during the operation of weaving. The advantage of it is, a greatsaving of'time, and also of material, in arrangingandsecuring the warp.
A'representsone partzof the clamp,'joined at one end by thephirige a to the other part, B. On the insideV ofthe pice A is a longitudinel tongue, I), vwhich ts into a corresponding groove in the -tinside of the other piece, '13, when the tivo vpieces are closed together, as shownl clearly in 2. The' pieces A and B, when -closed,
described.
areheld .together by `buttons,c vc, on 'the front side, or in any other convenient manner, and they iirmlyclamp the pallmleaf werp. The holes c e are made through each end of the part B, for receiving small set-pins, for
attaehing theelamp temporarily to the breast-beam of a loom' Whilev the wurp is arranged in' it.
The clamp is applied and used by first securingit to the breast-beninA of theloom, with the set-pins inserted through the holes e e, liywhich it is held-in place while the end of the 'palm-lea-f'wnrp is passed over the grooved partB and placed properly, :md while the other partfvA, is open, as shown in'red lines, lig. l; then, by closing the clamp, the tongue b vill hind upon the warp, and the pins are removed from4 the holes e e,-to disengage vit from the hreast-beumvof the loom, reu'dyfor the' weaving.
VI-claim as new, and desire to securehy Letters Patent- The removable clamp for holding-palmdea'f ivarp, constructed as described, consisting of the grooved pieceI B and tongued piece A, hinged together nta, and provided with the notehesand catches c, as herein shown andV CYRUS POWERS. Witnesses;
