Description

`To all whom ctpma/y coczcernf t waited tat' @anni @Mina G sono E E W ART, oF NEW Y o R N. Y.
Letters Patent No. 89,921, dated May 11, 1869. Y
` IMPRovED NEEDLE-Wimpfen.,
` The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of tle name.
Be it known that I, GEORGE EWART, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new `and improved Needle-Wrapper; and I do hereby declare that thefollowing is a full, clear, and exact de- ,scription thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to hake and usethesamareference being hadto the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in whicl1` y l `Figures l and 2 are face views of my improvedl needle-wrapper, showing it folded open. l
Figure 3 is a side View of the loop that-.holds the Figure 4 is a longitudinal section of the` wrapper, showing it folded together. l V
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts. Y i Llhis invention relates to certain `improvements on the well-known needle-wrapper known in the trade as Millwards; and consists ina new manner of forming the loop on the inner sheet of paper, so as to econ omizethe separate piece or pieces of paper heretofore required for that purpose. s
The outer covering-sheet A is made of paper, of` suitable form, and, as usual, large, enough to be folded around the needles in the ordinary manner.
B is the inner paper sheet. It is pasted or otherwise fastened to the middle portion of the sheet A, of the usual length and width.
From its sides project, near its middle, two flaps, d.,
b, as in iig. 1, which, when fastened together by paste or otherwise, as in fig. 2, form a loop, c, for the reception of the needles. ThisA loop was heretofore made of a. separate piece of paper, that surrounded the second narrow sheet B, and was consequently more expensive than when produced by the projecting flaps 0f said sheet B.
The needles, which are fastened in or to a pieceV of Y suitable woven or felted fabric, O, are `secured to the sheet B `by being fitted into the loop c of the same, as in fig. 4. 4
Having thus described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isl The needlewrapper, which consists of the paper sheets A B, the' sheet B,'having the projecting flaps a b, by means of which the loop c is formed, substantially as herein shown and described. p
, GEO. EWART.
