Description

@anni -Gdilina CHARLES i. MOORE,
0F NEW YORK, N.A Y.
Letters Patent No. 102,575, dated May 3, 1870.
Theschedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part or the samev To all whom it may; concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES C. MOORE, of the city, county, and .State of New York, have'invented a new and useful' Improvement in Cord-Catch; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description-thereof, which will enable others skilled in the artto make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification.-
Figure 1 is a detail section of my improved 'cordcatch representing it as attached to a window casing.
Figure 2 is a detail seetionalview of the same, taken through the line a: x, fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention has for its object to furnish an improved cord-catch designed especially for holding the cords of window-shades; and 4 p It consists in the cord-catch constructed and operating as hereinafter more fully described.
A represents the body of the screw, which is formed with a small head, and with shoulders or flanges upon the side of said body close to the said head. l
B is the outer disk of the catch, which is made with a perforation through its center, fitting upon the an ged body of the said screw A. The screw A and disk B are thenfplaced upon a die, and a tubular die is placed upon the body A of the screw, and exposed to thc blow of a drophammer. 'lhc effect of this blow is to securely rivet the disk B upon the body A, forminga firm and substantial broadheaded screw. The disk', v
B may be made plain or very slightly convex, as may `be desired.
G is a disk somewhat similar tothe disk B, but a little more convex, as shown in iig. 1. placed loosely upon the vbody of the screw A. The screw A is then screwed into the window-casing or other support, to which the catch is to be attached.
The screw A is screwed into its support, more or less,
according to the thickness of the cord for holding which the catch is to be used. By this construction the cord to be held is drawninto the angular space between the disks B and C, and, by giving it a single turn, it will be held securely.
Having thus described all that is necessary to a clear understanding of my invention, and the mode of producing the cord-catch which VI preferably employ,
That I estecnlto be of my invention and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is rlhe cord-catch formed of disks B O and screw A, constructed, attachedl together, and applied as set forth.
The above specification of my invention. signed by me this 2d day of February, 1870. A
' CHARLES Gf MOORE. Witnesses:
GEO. W. MABEE, JAMES T. GRAHAM.
