TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, GEORGE BYRON KIRKHAM, of' 167 East Thirty-Third' streethcity, county, and State of New York, havel invented a. new and useful Improvement. in a Strap-Holder; and I do hereby. declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of lthe. same, suicienlt to enable one skilled in the art to which the invention appertains to make use of it, reference being` had to the accompanying drawings, which form a, part of this specification, and in whichl Figure l represents the straps and the fastener complete.
Figure 2 shows the body of the holder and the fixed strap'.
Figure 3 represents the movable slide, with its fixtures.
Figure 4 shows the catch-at the end of the holder; rand Figure 5 the spring tha-t secures this catch. v
Thisl improvement is designed to fasten movable straps and everything of theliind which it is desirable to hold securely, actingy at once in the capacity of a buckle and aloop, togetheror separately, as may be wanted.
The main body of the holder is fastened 'to the fixed strap by tacks passing through it and the strap, and riveted on the side opposite to the strap, ns represented at tig. 2. At one end of this .holder are grooves or ridges, a a, in which moves the slide, with corresponding grooves or ridges;` This slide is corrugated, or 'has teeth on the under sidefivhich gripe into the movable strap, and as the slide is pushed down,.it-presses on the strap, and holds it firmly. The slide` has a. little bent Wire, 6, sliding in a slot, to hold it in place; also, as a. precaution against its being lost, a little chain, c, attaching it to the main holder. The catch, iig. 4, at the other end ofthe holder, hasa groove to hold the strap, and two depressions, d cl, into which a spring, fig. 5, slips and holds it open or shut.
Having described my invention, 4what 1 claim therein as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is|
The body of the holder as adapted with the slide, the bent Wire- 6 and .chaine at onel end, and as adapted with the catch and spring at the other end, all as herein described.
GEO. B. KIRKHAM.
