PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT W. INNES, OF OMAHA, NEBRASKA.
COASTI'NG SHOE ATTAOHM ENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 745,442, dated December 1, 1903.
Application filed June 20, 1902.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT W. INNES, residing at No. 2552 Spaulding street, Omaha, in the county of Douglas and State of Nebraska, have invented certain useful Improvements in Coasting Shoe Attachments; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to a new and novel coasting shoe attachment.
The aim of my invention is to provide a simple attachment adapted to be removably secured to a shoe and used by a boy or person coasting.
In the accompanying drawings I have shown in Figure 1 a side elevation of a shoe provided with my attachment. Fig. 2 shows a front view thereof in cross-section, while Fig. 3 shows the blank before the same is bent to form the attachment.
It is well known that boys and others in coasting upon small sleds usually steer the same with the shoe-toes. This is apt to wear out the shoes at the tips, and in order to provide a simple device adapted to be attached to any shoe and provided with a central rib, which will facilitate the operation of steering the sled.
in carrying out theaim of my invention I use a blank B, preferably of sheet metal,
Serial No. 112,479. (No model.)
which is formed so as to naturally receive the toe of a shoe, as is disclosed in Figs. 1 and 2. this blank or-pattern being so folded and curved as to provide the central projecting ends 19, which form a central rib secured by means of the rivets a, and this rib is used in guiding the sled, as it cuts into the ice or snow, and so forms a positive means of steering the sled.
This attachment is provided with the straps C, provided withthe buckle I), so that the same may be ad justably secured to the wearers shoe.
These shoe attachments may be made in various sizes.
Having thus described my said invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent, is-
An attachment of the character described,
comprising a sheet-metal receptacle formed to receive the toe of a shoe, comprising two
