V'IO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known 4that I, P. J. HARVEY, of the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have` invented new and useful Improvements in Elastic Spring-Bed Bottoms; and'I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specication, in which- 4 Figure 1 represents the top view of the bed-hottom and bedstead.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the attachments.`
Figure 3 is the end view of ythe clasp; and
Figure 4 the front view of the loop.
The nature of my invention 'consists in the manner of attaching the slats tothe bcdstead by means of elastic straps, said attachments consisting of metallic clamps and loops, the construction of which will be hereinafter fully explained.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and Operation. V i
Head and foot-rails A A of the bed-bottom are secured to the head andfoot of the hedstead B. The said rails are provided with loops C C, cast in one piece, and firmly secured to said rails. Elastic straps D D, passing through the loops C O, are clamped to the ends of slats E, by clamps FF, each consisting of a yoke, f, cross-piece g, and nut z. Straps D D can be made of elastic straps or of-India..rubber entire, or of any elastic material suitable for the purpose.
The advantages of the abovedescribed befl-hottom being its simplicity in construction, its cheapness and durability.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the clasps F, straps D, and metal plates C, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
