PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH BLUM, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
TOWEL-HOLDER. A
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 742,153, dated October 27, 1903.
Application filed February 18,1903- Serial No. 143 978- (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern;
- Be it known that I, JOSEPH BLUM, a citize of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Towel-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, andto the figures of reference marked thereon,. which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates particularly to devices for holding a towel orother cloth; and the object of the invention is to produce a holder to which the towel may be readily applied and which will securely hold the same.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a front view of the device with the towel clamped therein, and Fig. 2' is a perspective view of the holder with the towel removed. Fig. 3 is an end view of the base-plate.
Referring specifically to the drawings, 6 indicates a base-plate having at the upper end a hole to receive the screw-eye 7 and at the lower end two outwardly-projecting lugs 8, the inner edges of which are undercut, as at 9. The screw-eye serves to attach the device to a counter or other support. A springloop is indicated at 10,which is looped through the eye of the screw-eyeand is capable of free motion therein. This loop is preferably formed of heavy wire, and the branches thereof extend between the lugs and terminate in 35 'swun g out of the way. The branches of the loop are then pressed together and down upon the cloth between the lugs, and on release the v spring action binds the cloth between the 5' arms and the lugs. Removal of the towel or cloth iseffected in an obvious manner.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A cloth-holder comprising a screw-eye, a 50 plate hung therefrom and having two spaced lugs projecting from the same side thereof, and a spring-loop extending loosely through the eye and having branches extending below the lugs and adapted to be sprung therebe- 55 tween.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
.. Witnesses:
SIGNA FELTSKOG, H. G. BATCHELOR.
in the holder, itis 4o JOSEPH BLUM.
