PATENTED FEB. 11, 1908. A. M. HARRIS & M. A. WILLIAMS.
CLOTHES PIN. APPLICATION FILED FEB. 4, 1907.

CLOTHES-PIN.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 11, 1908.
Application find February 4.. 1907. Serial No. 355.595.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ALBERT M, HARRIS and MILTON A. WILLIAMS, citizens of the United States, residing at Floyd, in the county of Floyd and State of Virginia, have invented a new and useful Clothes-Pin; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to makeand use the same. m
The invention relates to clothes-pins, and has for its object to rovide a simple inexpensive and durable device of this character which is adapted to clam 'arrnents to a ll old two at a clothes line, and which W1 time. I
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of a clothes-pin constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a detail view of one end of the device.
In carrying out our. invention, we take a continuous piece of suitable wire, initially impart to the same, the general outline as disclosed, namely that of a yoke, forming the substantiallyhorizontal portion thereof with a central loo 3 which provides for its attachment to a clbthes line, as is apparent. Said yoke has its vertical pendent members 1, each formed into a loop 2, with its reversely or upwardly extended portion 2 formed at the upper end into a resilient coil which, in continuation is extended downwardl as at (land terminated into a loop, one 0 said terminals or loops however, be'
ing carried straight u wardly as at b, about parallel with the ot er portions of that pendent or. vertical member of the yoke. L aid vertical yoke members have their reversely and u wardly extended portions bent or extended faterally as at 4, into contact with the downwardly extended and looped portions 2 of said yoke-members, thushavmg a clamping, and practically a locking action upon the vjaws formed by the lofilped portions of said vertical members, as w be ap rcciated.
- at is claimed is:
A device as described, consisting of a continuous piece of wire, having a yoke-111cc formation, with a central loop m 1ts sub stantially horizontal portion, each vertlcal or pendent member thereof bemg formed into a reversely or upwardly extended portion having at its upper end a resilient 0011 which, in continuation, 1s extended downwardly and terminated in a loop, said re versely or upwardly extended portlons of said pendent or vertlcal yoke-members being bent or extended laterally mto contact with said downwardly extended portions.
In testimony whereof Wev have signed our names to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
