SPEGIFIGATIONforming part of Letters Patent N0. 756,149, dated March 29, 1904:.
Application filed July 27, 1903. Serial No. 167,218. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, FANNIE Gr. SPEAK and ROYAL O. SPEAR, citizens of the United States, residing at Quincy, in the county of Adams and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Skirt Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has relation to improvements in garment-supporters; and it consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view showing our invention as applied. Fig. 2 is a view showing the two members separated.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral- 1 designates one member of the supporter having arms the upper ends of which are bent to form hooks 2, which serve the purpose of passing through the eyelets of a corset. The lower extremities of the arms are bent outwardly in an inclined position to form a loop 3, having its bends perpendicular to said lower extremities. The other member of the supporter l is composed of a safety-pin 3, adapted to be secured to a skirt or other garment, said pin being provided with a loop 4:, formed on its upper bar, which is constructed of the same configuration as the loop 3 of the arms, with the exception that it is of greater width than said loop 3, which permits of its opposite sides to extend beyond the bends of said loop of said arms, whereby a lateral movement of the loop 4 is permitted when connected to the loop 3 of the arms.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is I A garment-supporter comprising two members, one of which is provided with upwardlyextending arms each having a hook on its upper ends, and an outwardly-inclined'loop having its bends perpendicular to the lower extremities of the arms, the other member of said supporter being composed of a safety-pin having a loop formed on its upper bar which is constructed of the same configuration as that on the arms with the exception that it is of a greater width than the same to permit of its opposite sides extending beyond the bends of the loop on said arms, whereby the two loops of the two members are readily assembled together, and the loop of the pin also permitting of a lateral movement of the loop of the arms therein, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
