PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY LUENSMANN, OF NEWBERLIN, TXAS.
-Esox STAND 0R BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of LettersPatent No. 729,619, dated June 2, 1903.
Application filed September 6, 1902.- Serial No. 122,413. (No model.)
T0 all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY LUENSMANN, a' citizen of the United States, residing at New Berlin, in the county of Guadalupe and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Box Stand or Bracket, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improved box or bracket for boxes, the bracket serving as a stand for boxes containing prunes, raisins, starch, and similar articles found in provision-stores.
One of the objects of my invention isto produce a box that is neat in appearanceand that can be placed under the counter of a store, where it will be out of the way, and at the same time convenient to use by reason of its tilting properties and easy to replace in its normal position after it has been tilted forward.
Another object is to construct theV box proper separate from the lower portion,'thus dividing the device into a supporting-bracket and a receiving-receptacle adapted to rest on same. By this construction the boxes can be shifted around from one bracket to another` when it is desired to change the location of any particular article. The boxes can also be lifted from the bracket for the purpose of emptying, cleaning, or refilling when desired. In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of my supporting-brackets with boxes mounted thereon, one of the boxes being tilted forward. Fig. 2 is a side elevation, partly in section, ofthe bracket in its normal position, its position while in use being shown in dotted lines and broken linesr showing the box thereon. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the box and bracket formed integral, the dotted lines showing its position while in use. Fig. 4c `is a perspective view of the bracket by itself.
In vthe drawings, A represents a counter, Fig. l giving a view fofsanie from Athe. rear, While B represents boxes of anysuitable size and material resting upon the brackets C. Tho `bracket -U consists fof a substantially rectangular box -like frame, closed at the front and rear, but open at the sides, the under surface of the frame being beveled, the bevel commencing slightly in advance of the center of the frame. The front end piece C projects slightly above the top of the bracket to A suitable headed bolt D2 is passed through these slots into the iioor, securing the bracket from movement upon the iioor, but o'wing to the shape of the slot permitting a rocking movement. In` the top piece of the bracket two rectangular openings E are produced to give access to the bolts D2.
In Fig. 3 I have shown the box and bracket as integral-that is, the bottom of the box is formed in the same manner as the bottom of the bracket, the parts C' and E being necessarily omitted.
From the above description and the drawings the manner of usingthe box or bracket is plain, as it is obvious that a slight downward pressure on the forward end of the box will place it in the position shown in the right'- hand side of Fig. l and that it will remain in such position until an upward pull restores it to its normal position, as shown in the lefthand side of l. It is also obvious that when tilted forward it is partially withdrawn from under the counter and convenient access is had to its contents, and, further, that when restored toits normal position it is out of the way of the clerk in charge of the counter.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a device of the kind described, a frame having its bottom piece beveled slightly in advance of its center and inwardly curved over the rear edge of the bevel', said curved portion havingV-shaped slots produced therein, and means for securing said piece to a iioor, substantially as described. i
2. In a device of the kind described, a res ceptacle having its bottom upwardly and forwardly inclined in advance of its center, the inner surface of said bottom piece being upwardly curved adjacent the angle of inclination, and, having V-shaped slots formed therein and bolts adapted to pass through said slots for the purpose specified.
3. In a device for holding boxes, a rectangular frame having the forward portion of IOC its lower member upwardly inclined, a shoulend piece having its upper edge extending der formed onthe inner side of said member above the top member, substantially as deat the angle formed in said member7 said scribed. shoulder having transverse slots formed g" therein, bolts adapted to engage said slots, a Witnesses:
bop member having` openings formed therein J. B. MORGAN, whereby access is had to Jche bolts, and an FRITZ HOERMANN.
HENRY LUENSMANN.
