Be it known that 1, WILLIAM A. WILLIAM- SON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wardrobe- Hooks, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to improvements in wardrobe-hooks; and it consists in the novel construction of hook hereinafter described and claimed, said hook being made from a single piece of wire doubled and bent to form upper and lower hook members, while one extremity of the wire is fashioned into a screw and the other extremity thereof bent to tie said members together and form a stop at that part of the hook which when the latalso as a means for effectually binding the ter is in use engages the wall. The object of the invention is to produce very durable and efficient novel hook and one capable of being manufactured without undue expense.

The invention will be fully understood from the detailed description hereinafter presented, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of a hook constructed in accordance with and embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is a bottom view of same, and Fig. 3 is a vertical section of same on the dotted line 3 3 of Fig. l.

The hook shown is made from a single piece or rod of wire and comprises the upper member 10, lower member 11, screw 12, and stopcoil13, the said screw 12 being formed by threading one extremity of the rod of wire, the latter, starting at the screw, being carried forward to form one section, 14, of the member 10, thence backward to form the other section, 15, of said member. 10, thence downward and forward to form one section,

16, of the lower member 11, and thence back ward and upward to form the other section, 17, of said lower member, the extreme end of this portion of the wire being then carried over and Wrapped around under the said member 10 to tie said members 10 and 11 together and form the stop-coil13,the upperrear edge of which is on a vertical plane with the vertical portion of the lower member 11, so that said stop and member 11 may both,when the hook is screwed into a wall or other sup port, engage the vertical surface of the latter, as denoted by the dotted line 18 in Fig. 1. 5 The entire hook is thus made from a single piece or rod of wire, and, as will be observed, the members 10 and 11 are each fashioned by doubling the wire upon itself, so that each of said members contains two side-by-side 6 sections on the same plane and, at their outer portions more especially, preferably separated from each other to 'form reasonably broad supports for such articles as may be hung upon said members and afford rounded ends at the outer extremities of said members. The coil 13 is not only of great value as a stop to engage the wall-surface, but

" members 10 and 11 with the side-by-side parallel separated sections without impairing the efficiencyor durability of the hook. The 7 extreme end of the wire at the coil 13 is cut off at an angle or scarfed, as at 20, to present a smooth exterior finish.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The hook of one rod of wire and comprising the upper and lower doubled members 10, 11, screw 12 and stop-coil 13, "the said members 10, 11 each having the side-by-side sections on the same plane, and said wire, 8 starting with the screw 12, extending forward and then backward, forming the said member 10, then downward and forward and then backward and upward, forming the said member 11, and then over the top of'and around 9 under the said member 10, forming the coil 13; substantially as described.

2.
