HOOK.
APPLICATION FILED OUT. 12, 1911.
Patented July 2, 1912.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WALTER E. SMITH, F HALIFAX, NOVA SGOTIA, CANADA.
HooK.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WVALTER R. SMITH, a subject of the King of England, residing at Halifax, in the Province of Nova Scotia and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hooks, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in hooks and has for its leading object the provision of an improved form of support ing hook which shall be formed from a single piece of wire and be provided with an integral threaded tang for engagement in a wall to secure the hook in position.
A further object of my invention is the provision of an improved hook of this character formed from a single piece of wire which shall be so bent as to provide three hooks so disposed with respect to each other that different articles such as a coat, a vest and a pair of trousers may be hung on the different hooked portions of my hook and either of said garments be removed without necessitating the disturbing and removal of the other garments.
Other objects and advantages of my improved triple hook will be readily apparent by reference to the accompanying drawing and it will be understood that I may make any modification in the specific structure shown and described within the scope of my claims without departing from or exceeding the spirit of the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective View of the hook. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same.
To facilitate an understanding of the method of constructing my improved hook I have applied to the drawing of my hook characters of reference designating the vari-' ous bends and portions thereof, 1t being.
understood that the complete hook is formed from a single piece of material.
The numeral 1 designates one end of the wire of the hook, said end being tapered to a point and being screw threaded to enable me to readily secure the hook in a wall or other support. Extending forward in alinement with the portion 1 is the arm 2 upwardly bent at its front end into the hook loop 3 Specification of Letters Patent.

which extends reversely and slightly downwardly in the arm 4 to rest against the wall. At its rear end the portion 4: is bent into the laterally and forward inclining arm 5 having the upwardly curving hook loop 6 at its end, the material extending upwardly and rearwardly from the loop 6 in the portion 7 which terminates in the coil 8 twisted around the main arm 2, while extending downwardly and outwardly from the coil 8 is the arm 9 terminating in the third hook loop 10,
Extending upward and inward from the hook loop 10 is the arm 11 having the coil 12 wrapped around the bend 13 on the arm 4 while extending from the coil 12 is the portion 14.- which terminates in a loop 15 wound around the arm 2 and against the coil 8 to firmly secure the other end. of the wire to the main arm 2.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the drawing the construction of my improved hook will be readily understood and it will be seen that the hook loops 10 and 6 are similar in shape and size but are laterally spaced apart, while the loop 3 projects outward beyond both the loops 10 and 6 and is disposed between but above the said loops whereby the garments hung on either of theloops may be removed without disturbing the garments on the other hook loops.
I claim A hook, comprising a single piece of wire having one end screw threaded and tapered said wire extending outward and having a hook loop formed therein, and having a portion extending rearwardly from the hook loop, said portion being bent downwardly and forwardly and having a second hook loop formed therein disposed rearwardly of and diagonally below the first mentioned hook loop, the wire extending upward from the second 100 and being coiled around the arm of the wire having the threaded end, said coil terminating in a laterally and downwardly extending arm having a hook loop formed at its end and disposed rearwardly of the first hook loop, the wire ex tending from said third hook loop and being coiled around the curve in the portion In testimony whereof I aifix my signature, connecting the first and second hook loops, in the presence of tWo Witnesses. and the end of the Wire extending from the said coil and being Wrapped around the por- VVALTLR SMITH tion of the ire adjacent the threaded end Witnesses:
of the Wire and against the coil formed at ANNIE Gossn,
that point. J. M. DAVISON.
