Be it known that we, RICHARD GUTnRIn and JOHN Sumner., of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Method of Ornamenting Glass Lamp-Shades and Globes; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference beingfhad to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this speciication, in Which- Figure 1 represents a side eleyation of our invention.

This invention relates to a nevvinanner of ornamcnting plain glass globes or shades for gas or oil-lamps, and consists in providing sectional pieces of colored or stained glass, and in fitting the same to Wire or other clamps, by means of which they can be suspended from the edges of the globe or shade. The ornamental sections can be arranged in various colors and forms. The sections are maderemovable from the globe orshade, so that theyacan be packed separate from the same.

It' they are itted to globes, they should either he bent to the shape of the globe or should consist of two or more pieces connected by links, like chains, so that they will adapt themselves to the shape of the bell. The sectional plates can be made of glass of any suitable color. The saule may be stained, or ground, or otherwise ornamented as may be desired. For transportation, the glass sections are detached from the shades, and can thereby be more conveniently and safely packed.
We claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The removable sectional glass ornaments or hangings for lamp-shades and globes, arranged substantially as and for the purpose herein shown and described.
