TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM D. BAUGHN, of Milford, in the county of Oaklancl, in the State of Michigan, have invented an Improvement in Metal Sleigh-Knees; and I do declare that the following is an accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference mnrketl thereon, making a part of this specification. l

Figure I represents a. front view of the knee.

Figure :2 is a side View of the knee.

Figure 4 represents the top of the knee.

Figure 3 is a sectional view, ont off as :1t the dotted lines A B in figs. 1 and 2. l

The same letters of reference are used in each of the figures.

In using this knee, which should he of cast iron, and cast with a core sufficiently large to allow a half-inch bolt to pass through it, I mortise the runner to receive the tenori D, which is protected by the water-table E. At C I lay on my beam, on top of which I place my reve; then pass e half-inch bolt from -the hottomof the runner through the hole H, and through a. corresponding hole borled in the beam and avc, fastened with a nut on top of the rave.

In this way I build a. Sleigh with no mortises and tenons exeept those to connect the runner and knee, and these otre protected from rot by the water-table E. The knee is formed of four braces or points a 6 c d in fig. 3, which meet at n, common centre. i

Claim.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The tenon D, with the slot F, through which passes the bolt', :tbove described.
