Paten'tedfoct. 6, 1868.
D. W. GOULD, OF FOSTORIA, OHI'O.
Letim Patent No. 82,826, amd october 6, 1868.
IMPROVEMENI IN sLEDs;
till: clnml nfemh in in tlgrse'ettnrs zmnt mili making mi ni tln'zama. i
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, D. W. GOULD, of Fostoria, in the county of Seneca., and in the State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bob-Sleds; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof,'referenoe being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon. i I
The nature of m'y invention consists in casting each side of a bob-sled entire in one piece, so that they can easily he put together.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, which form a part of this specification, and which represent a perspective view of my invention.
A representsthe runner of a bob-sled, with knees, B B, on top of which the fender O is-placed.-
Near the point where the runner and-fender join together, there is a hole, in which a pin on the end of the rod D, for the tongue E, is inserted.
The knees B B form, at their upper ends, under the fender, sockets, in which the cross-beams FF are inserted, and fastened hy screws or other suitable means.
The entire side of the hob-sled, including runner, knees, sookets, and fender of vany shape desired, is cast in one piece. The roll for the tongue also being cast, it will be seen that such a sled is easil;r put together by putting the roll in its place and inserting the cross-beams in the sockets, securing` them there.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- A cast-iron bob-sled, when eachside, including runners, knees, and fender, is cast entire in one piece, las herein set forth and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand, this llth day of August, 1868. D. W. GOULD. Witnesses:
J.. L. GREENE, Jr., JOHN L. GREENE, R. ALoo'rT.
