IMPROVEMENT IN FIELD-ROLLER.

TO ALL WHOM I'IIMAY GONCERN:

Be it llinownthat I, A. L CHUBB, of Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent, and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements nField-Rollers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a, full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference benla had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form 'a part ofthis specification, in which- Figure 1 represents o. rear view of my machine, and

Figure 2 a plan view of the rollers, with the weight-box removed.

The nature of this invention consist-s in constructing or casting the yokes which confine the rollers in one sngle'piece of metal, substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.

To enable others skilled in the art to make anduse my invention, I will now describe its construction and operation. l l I i A A. designate the rollers, which may be made of wood, or other heavier material.

B B represent the yokes, which, instead of being made in separate pieces, as is usual, are cast entire and complete, thereby adding great strength and durability to them.

It will be observed that another advantage I derive in thus constructing or casting these yokes, is that a. shoulder is formed upon the inner side of the inner ends of the yokes. Thnsnwhile I am enabled to get full length of journal, I also bringtbe'rollers sufficiently near together as to leave but a very small space unrollcd. Each of the yolces B B is pivoted at its end to its respective roller, space being left within the yolceffor the roller to work freely. y v Y l v i C represents the weight-box, on the top ot' -.which the drivers seat may be adjusted. The feet of weightbox C, onein `front and the other in rear, will be confined to the yoke by means of a strap, o, which is fastened to the legs of said weight-box, and embraces 'a bolt projectingr fromA the yokes B B.

I am aware that there. is nothing new in thc arrangement of the rollers, and therefore lay no claim to othis feature of the invention; but
