Description

dutrd .eintritt @strut (twine.
Letters Patent No. 91,146, dated June 8, 1869.
IMPRO'VED SWIVEL COCK-EYE.,
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent Aand making part of th'e same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, It. A. MGKANNA, of Young America,in the county of Warren, and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful'Improvements in Swivel Cock-Eye anddo hereby declare that the following is a ful1,.c1ear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to theaccompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction of a swivel cock-eye, and in the manner of fastening cock-eyes to the leather.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains, to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, which form a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a side view, and
Figure 2, a plan view.
A represents a solid piece of metal, slotted through the centre to receive the end of the strap B, which is then secured by bolts or scnews,GO, passing entirely through both sides ofv the slotted metal piece A, and also through the leather strap B.
In the end of the metal piece A, is placed the cockeye D, which is arranged so as to turn on a swivel.
The advantages of having the cpck-eye reversible in this manner, are too obvious to need any mention.
At the other end of the strap B, I have represented the same kind ot bar A, with the usual stationary cock-eye D', the bar being secured in like manner with screws C C.
Having thus described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The grooved metal plate A, securing the sides and ends of the leather B, and provided at its end with a swivel cock-eye, D, all connected together by bolts, O, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand, this 23d day of December, 1868;
' RIA. M'GKANN A.
