IMPROVEMENT IN SLEIGHS.

Be it known that I, W. H. HUYCK, of Chariton, inthe county of Lucas, and State of Iowa, have invented n new and improved Sleigh; and Ido hereby declare that the following is a. full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the nrt to make and use thesame, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a. side view of my invention.

The invention consists in having the runners of wrought iron or steel bent or curved in the 11s-ual form, and having the knees constructed of flat iron bars rolled or welded together, bent in proper form and bolted to the runners and beams, as hereinafter fully shown and described.

C represents the knees, each of which is composed of two parts, a a, rolled or welded together, or secured together by bolts, ai, and divirging at their lower ends so that they may be fitted snugly upon and firmly bolted to the runners, as shown at b, and the upper end of one oi' the parts a of each knee is bent over in a horizontal position and said ends bolted to the beams D, (which are of wood,) as shown at c. E are fenders constructed of Het iron bars, bolted on the ends of the wooden beams D as shown at d. If necessary or desired the knees C may be braced from the beams D by metal rods or bars. This sleigh may be constructed at a very moderate cost, .and it will be extremely strong and durable.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
