Be it known that 1, DAVID BASOH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to an improvement in hose-supporters of that class wherein the supporter is detachably engaged with the corset and is designed to overcome certain existing defects and to provide a more convenient and secure device for the purpose set forth. It has been the practice to fasten the supporters to the corset generally in two ways-by pinningthe supporters to the body of the corset and by uniting the upper ends of the supporters to a pad or hanger-piece provided with means for detachably engaging the same with some part of the corset-clasp. The former method is apt to tearthe covering of the corset and is inconvenient for ready disengagement. The devices heretofore produced for carrying out the latter method render accident-a1 disengagement from the corset-clasp an unpleasant possibility, are necessarily disengaged from the corset whenever the latteris removed by the wearer,and are generally of a rigid con- .struction, cutting and eventually destroying the portion of the corset-clasp with which it engages. All of these difficulties are obviated by my invention, by, which I provide an attaching device having means for detachably engaging the eyepiece of the corset-clasp springing tightly to the same, and when in place impossible of accidentally becoming unfastened, while at the same time the hosesupporters have a free movement in every direction without danger of becoming loosened.

Another feature of my invention is the providing of means for more satisfactorily adj usting the strains on the fabric of the stockings than heretofore. This part of my invention will be more fully set out hereinafter.

In the following specification, with reference to the accompanying drawings, I have described a structure embodying my invention, the features of the same being more particularly pointed out hereinafter in the claims.

Figure 1 is a view of the lower portion of a corset, parts being broken away, showing my improvement attached thereto in operative position. Fig. 2 is a similar View showing my improvement in place on the eyepiece of the corset-clasp, the corset being unfastened. Fig. 3 is a rear view of the attaching device on an enlarged scale. Fig. 4 is a sectional view of the parts shown in Fig. 3 along the line X X.

Connecting the two portions of the tape a a, a little below the loopf is a stiffening-piece h, adapted to hold the two portions of the tape apart and to keep them in proper relation with each other. The tapes dd are preferably of one piece, fastened to the tapes coin such manner that they spread apart at a comparatively wide angle, so that the means e may grasp the stockings at the sides instead of in the front, as heretofore, thus more widely distributing the strain and lessening the possibility of tearing the garment. Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s

1. An attaching device for hose-supporters comprising a transversely-slotted plate adapted to be detachably engaged with the eyepiece of a corset-clasp and pivotally-connected dependent means adapted to receive the supporting means of the supporter.

2. An attaching device for hose-supporters comprising a slotted plate provided with guideways and adapted to slide upon and be detachably engaged with the eyepiece of a corset-clasp and pivotally-connected dependent means adapted to receive the supporting means of the supporter.

3. In a hose-supporter the combination with a garment-supporting tape of a loop through which said tape is adapted to pass, said loop being pivotally connected with a trans verselyslotted plate provided with means for detachably engaging the same with the eyepiece of a corset-clasp, the slot in the plate registering with the eye of the clasp.

4. In a hose-supporter the combination with garment-supporting tapes of a stiffening-strip adapted to hold the tapes in a fixed relation to each other, a loop above and separate from the stiffening-strip through which said tapes are adapted to pass, said loop being pivotally connected with a transversely-slotted plate provided with means for detachably engaging the same with the eyepiece of a corsetclasp.

5. In a hose-supporter the combination of a supporting-tape, having a second depending tape adj ustably con nected therewith provided with bifurcated means having hose-attaching clasps adapted to bring the clasps to the top of the stocking at the sides, with a trans versely-slotted plate adapted to be detachably engaged with the eyepiece of a corsetclasp said plate having pivotally-connected dependent means adapted to receive and hold the supporting-tape substantially as described.

6. An attaching device for hose-supporters comprising a transversely-slotted plate adapted to be detachably engaged with the eyepiece of a corset-clasp, the slot of the plate registering with the eye of the clasp, and pivotally-connected dependent means adapted to receive the supporting means of the supporter.
