TO ALIi WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER WABN'ER, of the city of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented a nev' and improved Slat-Fastening; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereoffwhich will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to' the accompanying drawings, forming a part of thisspeciication, in which- Figure 1 represents a front elevation of my invention.
Figure 2 is a. vertical transverse section of the same taken on the line :12.22, lig. 1.
Figure 3 is a similar View as fig. 2, showing` a modification of my invention.
This invention relates to a device whereby slats of window blinds may be easily locked and held in any msiged position.
i y The invention consists in securing a bolt to one of the slats of the blind and arranging a semicircular sheet-mctal plate, which is attached to the frame of the blind,sa.id plate being provided with a series of holes or recesses wherein the end of the aforesaid bolt may be held, thus securing' the slats in any desired position.
The invention is designed to overcome the inconvenience hitherto experienced in not being enabled to secure Ihsslats in any desired position,` sc that, especially when they had been used some time, it was impossible to control their position.
A represents the frame of the blind, to which the slats B aresecured in the usual manner. The bolt a. is secured to the inside of one of the sla-ts, and locks them all by being passed into one of the recesses or holes arranged in the plate b. 'This plate I: is firmly secured to the frame A, as shown, and is made of sheet metal or of any'other style and kind of metal or desired material. The holes o1' slots in that porti-on of the plate which covers the upright of the frame must be continued in the said frame. In fig. 3 amodfication ofthe abovedescribed device is illustrated. In this the bolt a is secured to the frame A of the blind, whilc the plate b is attached te the slats B. In this case the. plate b may be part of the connector ,0, which is secured to the ends of the slats, or it-may be attached to the ond'of the slats independent of the connector.
.It will be seen that this device can be easily arranged onnll old or new slat binds.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new/and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
'Ihe Slat-fastener, consisting in the combination of plates b and b when provided with holes or recesses, the
bolts a and e', substantially as and for the purposes herein shown and described.
ALEXANDER WARNER.
