Be it known that I, CHARLOTTE W. ALLEN, of Newport, Campbell county, in the State of Kentucky, have invented a. new andnseful Smoothing-Iron Stand, which is intended to secure greater safety and convenience in ironing clothes; and I'do hereby declare that the following is n full and exact description thereof', referenceA being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters ofreference marked thereon, which drawings form a. part of thisl specicattionyand in which- Figure 1 is a'top view; and Figure 2 is an end view.
VThe nature of my invention consists in providing said smoothing-iron stand with nn elevated rim or guard, A, as seen in tig.. 1, extending round the sides, and a. back rim or guard, B, which said rims A and`B serve to prevent the smoothing-iron from slipping or falling from said ironingy stand. The rim or guard B (as seen in g. 2) is made lower than guard A, in order to facilitate more readily vthe insertion of the smoothing-iron within said stand; and my invention consists, further, in the application to said smoothing-iron stand of :i clamp, C, and a, thumb-screw, D, attached thereto, and both of which are illustrated in fig. 2, and by means of which said clamp and screw seid iron-stand may be irmly secured to the edge of e table or shelf.V
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Potent, is- A The smoothing-iron stand, consisting of the guard or :rim A B, and the screw-clamp C D, combined and arranged substngtielly as land for the purpose specied.
