Letters Paten No, 72,674, dated December 24, 1867.v
IMPROVEMENT IN SHEEP-SHEARING TABLE.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY GONCERN:
Be it known that we, OLIVER PERRY and OLAnirPnnnY, of Ortonville, in the county of Oakland, and in the State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sheep-Shearing Table; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.'
In the annexed drawings, making part of this specification, 'A represents a solid und substantial frame, with a table or pintform upon its top, upon which the body of the sheep to be sheared is leid. B and C represent frames, which are placed upon each side of the frame A, and hinged to it at their lower ends. These two frumeshave tables upon their upper ends, which may be made to connect with the table of' freine A. These tables are not level, but slope ofi', or form inclined planes, as represented. A' cord, F, connects these two side frames together, and a lever, D, to which the cordvis secured, operates upon the frames, drawing them toward the table-oi` frame A. The legs of the'sheep are caught between the side and the centre tables, and are there held while 'a portion of its body is being sheared. 1
This portion of our invention was fully described in a. patent granted to us in April, 1867. The invention for which we now desire Letters Patent relates more particularly to the half-round sill or bnr G, which is secured upon the table B', andl the strap H, which is also secured to said table; the object of this sill or bar, to actas a rest for the neck of the sheep, and-over which it maybe bent for more conveniently and easily shearing it. When the sheep is placed up'on its side, its head is secured down to table B bymeans of the strap H, his neck being bent over the side G. This gives the operator a chance to shear the neck closely and with great facility.
What We claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The sill or bar G, and strap H, used upon the table B', substantially asand folithe purpose set forth.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing, we have hereunto set our hands, this fifth day of November, 1867.
OLIVER PERRY,
CLARK PERRY. Witnesses:
