To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, STEPHEN KALISZ, subject of the Emperor of Austria, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collapsible Stands and Supports; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will en able others skilled in the art to whichit appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in collapsible stands or supports for Washtubs, flower pots, or tubs, table tops, and the like, and has for its principal object to provide a simple, cheap and efiicient device of this character which is easily and quickly opened up and collapsed, and is readily portable.

The invention consists in the features of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described and cla med.

and opposed faces of contiguous spokes 3 are pivot pins 8 whichare threaded at their inner ends in the hub member 1, but which preferably pass freely through openings in the outer member 2. Pivotally mounted between its ends on each of said pivotpins S is a bar 9 extending through each of the slots spannedby said pivotv pins, andhavthe spokes 8 and pivot pins 8. The said bars constitute the supporting legs for the collar, and also fOr the article adapted to ing its side edges beveled to correspond sub 7 stantl ally to the angle of divergence between be supported uponv their upper ends when positioned as shown in Fig. 1-. They are turned to said positions from the vertical (and parallel with the aXisof the collar) through an arc of forty-five degrees more or less, in the same direction, which is preferably clockwise. When posltloned as shown in Fig. 1 the beveled side edges of the bars 9 rest upon the beveled faces 4 and 5 of spokes disposed respectively at opposite ends of the slot containing the leg. Thus a considerable surface is presented'by each of the spokes to the engaging faces of the leg'or bar to prevent indentation of the latter. When the bars are disposed in their upright positions, as when the stand is collapsed, the side edge of each leg or spoke 9 engaging the upper beveled face of one of the spokes 6 will contact withv the lower edge portion thereof which will constitute a stop to limit the pivotal movement of the leg or bar 9 in the anti-clockwise direction thus eliminating the possibility of error on the part of the operator in turning the legs I or bars when opening the stand for use.

The upper and lower ends of the bars are preferably beveled as shown, so that all of them will lie in parallel horizontal" planes at the upper and lowerv ends of the stand when the latter is open.

My said device'is very slmple, cheap and efficient, and is adapted for a multiplicityof purposes. i

course, that the same may be changed and varied in details without departing from the invention as claim.

I claim as my invention: A collapsible. stand comprising a-collar consisting of apolygonal middle portion,

defined in the appended a similar outer portlon connectedwith the middle portion by means of integral radial spokes extending from the outer corners of the middle portion to the inner corners of the outer portion and constituting the end Walls of equal slots, a pivot pin spanning each slot between the ends thereof, legs pivand each of said spokes having an edge portion positioned to engage an edge 01 a leg to prevent the same from being turned in the reverse of its intended direction from collapsed to open position of the stand.
