To all lwhom it 'may concern.-

Be it known that we, VVILLrAM J. JOHNSON, of Newton, county of Middlesex, and State of Massachusetts, and HENRY A. HILDRETH, of Lowell, in the aforesaid county and State, have invented an Improvement in Tire Broilers and we do hereby declare that the following is a full and correct description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

lo enable those skilled in the art to make use of our invention, we will proceed to describe the saine.

First, we form the frame of our wire broiler, A A, in the form cfa parallelogram, with thc corners taken olf, as represented in figs. l and 2 at a a a a, thus enabling the manufacturer to construct a broiler that will drop into the openings at the top of a stove, as shown in fig. 1, in a. cheap and substantial manner, it being found impracticable to round the ends of a parallelogram and properly secure the cross-bars to the frame; l

Second, in attaching drop-hooks to the body or frame of a Wire broiler, by means of hinges, or their equivalents, for lthe purpose of suspending the same from the top of a stove, and in close proximity to the fire; the/drop-hooks being represented in iig. l by letters B B B B, C C C C, and in fig. 2 byB BB B.

Third, in extending the drop-hooks, as shown in figs. l and 2, by letters D D, B B B B, thus forming pivoted or hinged handles, in a convenient form for adjusting the broiler over the lire, and turning the same with ease by the operator.

Fourth, in pivoting or hinging handles D D, fig. 1, to the frame of a wire broiler, provided with or-with out drop-hooks, as a means of handling and controlling said broiler when dropped into the openings of a. stove, as represented in fig. l.

What we claim as our invention, andI desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The hinged or pivoted drop-hooks, attached to the frame or body of a wire broiler, as and for the purposes specified.

2. Handles formed and attached to the frame or body of a wire broiler, as shown and described, and for the purposes set forth.
