Be it known that I, MMLON S. DRAKE, of the city of Newark, in the county of Essex, and State of New Jersey, have invented a Machine for Use in Pouncng Hats; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and exact description of the same, reference being herein had to the drawings that accompany this specification and make part of the same.. Y
The nature of my invention consists in the provision made for the required motions of the hat under the hand of the operator, and in a peculiar shaped hat-block; and in addition to these a provision for collecting for use the fur that is rubbed from the surface of the hat. In the drawings- Fgure 1 is a Hat side view of the machine.
Figure 2 is a front view- The same letters referring to the same parts in each ligure.
The block ais formed in that combined concaveand convex shape commonly termed O G, that being the best possible shape for having all parts of the hat equally tight and smooth under the hands of the operator. This block isattached to a face-plate, b, upon a mandrel, c, motion being given thereto by belts, as shown, with two loose pulleys and one fast to the mandrel, the reverse motion being obtained by a cross-belt, d, other ways of getting the reverse vmotion answering the purpose. Upon the end of the driving-shaft e is placed a fam bloweiyf, which collects the dust and fur as they are rubbed from the hat and ejects them, atg, into any suitable receiver.
Having no claim upon the separate parts, what I do claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent. of the United States, isl Combining `the various'parts in one whole, in the manner antl for the purpose specied, as a new article of manufacture or a new implement for use, l
MAHLON s. BRAKE.
