A A are bars of? iron or steellong enough to permit the moulder tonuse the tongs without discomfort from the heet of the furnace, bent at each end into segments of circles, B C, nearly approachingsemicircles, the length of thebars being ,perpendicular to the planes of the circles, of which the segments are parts. The segments B are hinged together at D, and the segments are hinged together at E. The radins of the curve of the segments Bis of a different length from the radius of .the segments C, so, that one pair of tongs may be used for-many different-sized crucibles. 'The elasticity of the bers of the tongs,'when compressed by the hand.
will cramp the segments around e c rucible with suicient force to prevent it from slipping in the tongs when it'. may he canted for pouring at will.
Having thus fully described my improvement, what Iclaim therein asnew, and, desire to secure by Letters The arrangement of the bars A, nd hinged circuler segments B and C, combined together to form one or more orucibletongs, substantially as described and set forth.
