(Application filed May 8, 1897.)
(No Model.)
NITED STATES LAURA WELLOCK, OF DELPHI, INDIANA.
HAT-DISPLAYING STAND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 607,310, dated July 12, 1898. v
Application filed May 8, 1897. Serial N0. 635,70'7. (N0 model.)
T0 all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LAURA WELLOOK, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Delphi, in the county of Carroll and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and usef ul Improvements in Hat-Displaying Stands; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to a stand for displaying hats and other goods in lnillinery and other stores; and its object is to provide an improved construction of the same which may be adjusted to accommodate it to hats of varying sizes of crown.
The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a hat-displaying stand constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view showing the outwardly-extending arms.
In the said drawings the reference-numeral 1 designates a circular base, to which is secured a vertical standard 2, provided at its upper end with a fixed collar 3, formed with a series of apertured lugs 4:.
The numeral 5 designates an adjustable or sliding collar on said standard also formed with apertured lugs 6 and provided with a set-screw 7 for holding it to any position to which it may be adjusted.
The numeral 8 designates a series of outwardly-extending sectional arms, each consisting of two parts or sections having the inner ends bent into loops. Q The loop of one of these sections engages with the other section or arm, so that the outer section may be extended and contracted by sliding it out and in. Said outer sections are provided with loops 9, and the inner sections are provided with lugs 10.
The numeral 12 designates arms or links the inner ends of which are pivotally c011- nected with the lugs 4, while the outer ends are provided with bifurcated lugs let, pivoted to the lugs 10. The sides of these lugs 14: are formed with extensions 15, which embrace the sectional arms. One of these extensions is provided with a set-screw 16, by which the sectional arms can be clamped against the other extension, and thus be securely held in any position to which they may be adjusted.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim is In a hat-displaying stand, the combination with the base, the standard and the fixed collar at the upper end thereof provided with zip ertured lugs, of the sliding collar having corresponding lugs, the outwardlyextending sectional arms connected with said sliding collar, and the inner ends of each section formed with loops through which the other section passes, the links providedwith bifurcated lugs engaging with said arms and the set-screw passing thereth rough, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereunto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LAURA IVELLOCK.
