To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, JOHN FLINN Hora, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Hartford, in the county oliWashington and State of W1scons1n, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hatl taclzs; and l do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.

lily invention has for its object to provide a simple, economical and ellicient hat rock, the construction. and arrangement being such that the hat is inserted therein and securely held in place by a rim-clip, the rack being formed from a single piece of bent wire of any desired capable of sustaining the load to which it is applied.

With the above object in view the invention consists in certain peculiaritiesof construction and combination cit parts as set forth hereinailt'ter with reference to the accompanying drawings and subsequently claimed.

ln the drawings Figure 1 represents a perspective View of a hanger embodying the features oi my invention, and Fig. 2, a face low of the same upon a reduced scale illustrating a hat suspended within the hanger.

Referring by characters to the drawings 1 represents a centrally disposed suspen sion loop having its cross ends merged into supporting arms comprising opposite diverging sections which sections are intersected by parallel Vertical sections 9/, the said supporting arms being adapted to rest flatly against a wall or other fixture and is held in suspension by a pin or other suitable member.

The lower ends of the arms are outwardly bent and thereafter merged into upwardly inclined rim-clips 3, the ri1nclips being alined with the straight sections 52 or the arms to form in conjunction therewith jaws for the reception of a hat-rim. The upper ends of the rim-clips 3 are cross-connected by a downwardly bowed wire stretch constituting a crown rest 4: for the support of a hat crown which, as best shown in Fig. 2, is nested thereon. After the wire is thus f rined, the ends thereof are joined together and connected by solder or other suitable means, this connection as shown being effected in one of the oblique stretches 2 (topics of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents,

that lform part of the supporting arm. It should be understood however that the abutting joint of the wire ends may be made at any other point of the device without departing from the spirit of my invention.

It will be readily understood from the foregoing description that a hat can be simply dropped into position upon the hanger and its rim will rest within the aws ilioruu-zd between the vertical stretches 9 and the rim clips 3, the crown of the hat being engaged by the bowed rest 4:. It is also understood that the hanger can be elliciently utilized for the support of straw,

still? or soft hats and. that when the same are positioned upon the hanger there is no liability of their being inadvertently displaced as in the case oi an ordinary hook, and while I have shown and described the sections 2 oi the arm being obliquely disposed it is apparent that any suitable scroll form may be substituted for that shown, the essential elements being the bowed crown-rest and rim-clip.

I claim:

its a new article of manufacture, a hat raclr comprising a single strand of wire twisted to form a centrally disposed suspension loop, the ends of which are merged 1 into supporting arms having oppositely diverging downwardly extended sections that are merged into vertical parallel. sections, the lower ends of the parallel sections being bent upon themselves and extended upwardly in alinenient with said parallel. sections to form flared looped rim-clips whereby hats of varied sized rims may be seated therein, the rims of which are adapted to extend beyond the rim clips, and a concavo-conyexed crossconnection between the rim clips comprising a crown rest that is adapted to approximately con town. to the contour of the crown oi a hat seated therein.
