BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 591,212, dated October 5, 1897.
Application filed April 6, 1896. Serial No. 586,363. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHMOND STILES DICK- ERSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Kissimmee, in the county of Osceola and State of Florida, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottles, of Which the followingis a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof, in Which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to bottles, jugs, jars, and similar vessels; and the object thereof is to provide a vessel of this class Whichhavin g been once filled and sealed may be emptied of its contents, but cannot be reiilled or reused Without leaving evidence of the fact.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of Which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the figure clearly illustrates the invention.
In the practice of my invention I have shown a bottle A, provided with a neck B, and formed in the inner Walls of the upper portion thereof is an annular groove or enlargement L, and I also employ a tubular plug N, which is opened at the bottom and closed at the top, and the top thereof is provided with a ball or spherical body b2, between which and the plug proper is a deep annular groove D, and the upper portion of the tubular plug N is also out away to correspond with the annular groove or enlargement L in the neck B, and in sealing the bottle or vessel the cork I-I is first inserted into the bottom of the tubular plug,
and said tubular plug is forced into the neck and the annular chamber formed by the annular groove or enlargement L in the neck D, and the correspondingly cut-away portion of the tubularplug N is then filled with cement, as shownat It, said cement being placed in said chamber While in a plastic condition, and after the same is set and becomes hard the tubular plug N cannot be removed, and the only Way to empty the bottle is to break off the ball or spherical body b2, and this will be proof that the bottle has once been filled and emptied.
Instead of employing the annular chamber in which the plastic cement is placed for holding the tubular plug N in position Within the neck, said plug may be secured in place in any desired manner.
In breaking off the ball or spherical body b2 I employ a tool or instrument which is constructed in the manner of an ordinary pair of forceps and provided with javvs which eX- actly fit the part to be broken od.
Having fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination With abbottle or other vessel provided With a neck B and having formed in the inner Walls of the upper portion thereof an annular groove or enlargement L of a tubular plug N Which is opened at the bottom and closed at the top and provided With a spherical body b2 between which and the plug is a deep annular groove D the upper portion of said plug N being cut away to correspond With the enlargement L and the cork in the neck of the bottle inside of the plug and cement to secure `the plug in the neck of the bottle.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of the subscribing Witnesses, this 12th day of March, 1896.
RICHMOND STILES DICKERSON. `Vitnesses:
L. A. Guion, S. S. BRATTON.
