T all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY A. SLATTEN- can)? a citizen of the United States, residing at Lindstrom, in the county of Chisago and State of Minnesota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to bottles and jars, and has for an object to provide a bottle which cannot be conveniently used a second time.
The invention embodies, among other features, a bottle which is so arranged and constructed that after it is once unsealed it will be unfit for further use and cannot be conveniently refilled and sealed a second time, thus preventing the use of the bottle as a container for a spurious or adulterated fluid design to be an imitation of the original contents of the bottle.
In the further disclosure of the invention reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, constituting a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference denote corresponding parts in all the views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary sectional view of the bottle, showing the normal and sealed position thereof; Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the bottle after the same has been unsealed; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the cap.
Referring more particularly to the views, I disclose a bottle body 10 including an integral neck 11 having the outer face 12 thereof inclined. A stopper 13 is adapted for insertion in the neck of the bottle body 10 to close the same and the neck 11, at the point of formation of the neck on the botneck so that the inner inclined wall 16 there- Specification of Letters Patent.

of will engage the outer face 12 of the neck 11, the lower end of the said cap being adapted to extend slightly beyond the weakened portion 14: formed at the juncture of the neck with the bottle body. The top 17 of the cap 15 is preferably made of thin glass and is provided with a vent aperture 18.
After the bottle body 10 has been filled with the desired fluid the stopper 13 is ar ranged to close the neck 11 and the cap 15 is then arranged to encircle the neck as shown, and pressed downwardly so that the lower end of the cap will move slightly beyond the weakened portion 11, a suitable mucilaginous substance being preferably arranged between the outer inclined face of the neck and the inner inclined face of the,
cap in order to rigidly seal the cap on the neck, it being readily understood that the air which will be compressed within the cap when the same is arranged on the neck will pass outwardly through the vent aperture 18. Now when it is desired to unseal the bottle, the cap 15 is struck a blow sufiicient to break the neck 11 of the bottle body at the weakened portion 14, thus entirely removing the neck, stopper and cap by a single blow directed at the cap. The bottle body will now be unsealed so that the contents thereof can be poured therefrom, and it will be readily apparent that by mutilating the bottle body as mentioned it cannot be readily reused for the accommodation of another or similar fluid.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
A non-refillable bottle consisting of a body portion, an outwardly tapered part formed short of the end of said body portion, a neck formed integrally upon said tapered part, a groove formed on the exterior of said neck at its junction with the body portion, a closure arranged to fit snugly throughout the length of said-neck, a closure cap of greater thickness than said neck and greater in length with respect thereto, said closure cap being formed with an inner outwardly flared surface adapted In testimony whereof I afiix my signature to provide a wedging part, said neck being in presence of two witnesses.
