To aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, Morr KErsLAR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Phuiera, .in the District of Rajputana and country of India, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to non-refillable bottles, and has primarily for its object the provision of novel and peculiar means arranged upon the exterior of the bottle neck, whereby the mouth thereof is hermetically sealed in a manner incapable of opening,

' without breaking or mutilating the bottle to such an extent as to make any fraudulent refilling thereof apparent.

A still further object of the invention contemplates the provision of a metallic cap adapted to be locked over the bottle closure in a manner incapable of removal without breaking the same or otherwise mutilating it to such a degree as to render a second use impossible.

The invention still further resides in the provision of a non-refillable bottle which is simple in construction, reliable and etlicient in operation. and one which can be manufactured and placed upon the market at a minimum cost.

The above and additional objects are accomplished by such means as are illustrated in their preferred embodiment in the accompanying drawings, described in the follow ing specification, and then more particularly pointed out in the claim which is appended hereto and forms a part of this application.

In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings, wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts in the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of abottle, partly broken away, the same being shown as it appears before sealing; Fig. 2 is a similar view, the bottle being properly sealed; Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the closure; Fig. 4 is a top plan view of the said closure as it appears when sealed; Fig. 5 is a similar view of the metallic cap attached thereto; and Fig. 6 is a side elevational view of said cap.

ferred form of my invention, the numeral 1 designates a bottle of any ordinary type having the usual neck 2 projecting from the top thereof. An annular flange 3 is formed upon the periphery of the neck near its top, the purpose of which will subsequently appear.

A plurality of pointed tongues t are formed integrally with and arran ed upon the top of the neck portion 2 of the bottle. the same adapted to be bent after the bottle has been originally filled. until the points of the said tongues meet as is clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. After being bent in this manner, the said tongues are hermetically sealed together. therebv rendering a refilling of the bottle im ossible without breaking or otherwise mutilating the said 7 tongues to such an extent as to make any fraudulent refilling apparent. The material of which the closure is composed is left to the manufacturer.but in the preferred form, the same material of which the bottle is made, is employed, the bending of the tongues being accomplished bv heating the said tongues with a blow-pipe and subseouentlv bending the tongues until the points thereof meet. as is clearly shown in Fig. 2. The usual opening 5 is formed within the neck 2 of the bottle. within which a cork stopper is inserted before the sealing operation of the tongue, this arrangement preventing the entrance of broken glass or other material into the interior of the bottle during the unsealing thereof.

As a further preventive of fraudulent reuse of the bottle, a metallic cap is provided, the said cap comprising a pair of transversely extending arms 6 adapted to conform to the contour of the closure over which the said cap is placed, the lower extremity of the arms being bent as at 7 to fit beneath a shoulder 8 formed beneath the said closure, and having formed integrally therewith a metallic band or collar 9 adapted to be fastened around that portion of the bottle neck between the said shoulder 8 and the annular flange 3, through the medium of a tongue 10 and head 11 formed upon the end thereof, the said head fitting within an opening formed within the opposite end of the band from that of the tongue 10. This arrangement of the cap will prevent a removal thereof without breaking either the tongue 10 or the arm 6, and will further in refillable bottle.

It will be seen from the above, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, that access cannot be had to the stopper without first breaking one or more of the tongues 4; that the metallic cap cannot be removed without mutilating or breaking a portion thereof; and by hermetically seal-..

ing the tongues, access to the interior of the bottle cannot be had after such sealing is once effected.

It will be understood that the above description and the accompanying drawings comprehend only the general and preferred embodiment of my invention, and that various minor changes in the details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be made Within the scope of the appended claim, and without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention.
