To all whom .it may concern:

Be it known that l, WARREN E. LOCKE, of i Somerville, county of Middlesex, and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in Packages for Laundered or other Articles, of which the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specication, like letters and figures on the drawings representing like parts.

This invention has forits object to construct a package or caseespecially adapted for holdingshirts, collars, cuffs, cbc., it being designed and intended for use in carrying such articles to and from the laundry, or it may be used by haberdashers and others in delivering their goods.

The invention consists, essentially, in a package having a latrand more or less rigid central section of suitable size and shape and several folding-in flapsV projecting therefrom in different directionswas, for instance, there may be two such folding-in fiaps arranged at opposite ends of said central section, which may be turned over or folded inwardly andV caused to lap over or upon one another` and there may be two other folding-in flaps' arranged at the opposite sides of said central section between the aforesaid folding-in aps, which may likewise be turned inward and caused to lap over or upon one another. order that the folding-in flaps may possess sufcient rigidity to prevent being easily crushed in, they are corrugated transversely,

' Thepackage consists, essentially, of two pieces or strips of pasteboard or strawboard 'orfsimilar material, each formed with a central fiat portion CAL and with regularly-corrugated endsl b b, the corrugations being arranged transversely, as shown. These two pieces or strips of material are placed one upon the other at right angles with relation to each other', so that the two central portions c lie one upon the other, and when in such position said parts are securely attached together-as, for instance, they maybe attached at several points by eyelets 3. With the parts thus secured it ywill be seen that a iiat central rigid section is produced from which project two pairs of transverselyfcorrugated flaps, which are adapted to be folded in upon any article whichmay be placed upon the central section. A strap cis attached at one end, as at c', to the central section, its opposite end Yhavinga stud c2, which is adapted to enter any one of a series of eyelets 4 which may be set into the central section as may be desired according to the fullness of the package. When using the package, the4 parts are laid vout. dat, as shown in Fig. l, and the articles will become engaged in such a manner as not to easily slip. Then the other pair of corrugated liaps are folded in over and upon the aforesaid `flaps, and by reason of their transverse regular corrugations they will likewise become locked in such a manner as not to easily slip, and then the strap c is carried around or about the package audits outer or free end is secured to the under side'of the package. I prefer to make the essential parts of the package of pasteboard or strawboard, as it will be understood that the entire package may be thus cheaply manufactured, but l do nct desire to so limit my invention.

By corrugating the flaps, as herein shown, it will be seen that they are longitudinally leXible and transversely rigid, which is a feature of importance in this invention.

I claim- 1. The package herein described consisting of a central section and several folding-in flaps, one pair of which at opposite sides of Said central section are formed or provided with corresponding transverse corrugations, and means for holding the fiaps folded in, substantially as described.

2. The package herein described consisting of a central section and several folding-in iaps formed or provided with regular` transverse corrugations, and a strap attached at one end to said central section and provided at its other end with a stud and several sockets in the central section into any one of which said stud may be placed, substantially as described.

`3. The package herein described consisting of two pieces of material laid one upon the other at right angles with relation to each other, and means for attaching them together thereby presenting a central rigid section and two pairs of folding-in Iiaps, means for holding said folding-in flaps in engagement with one another when folded in, and a strap attached at one end to said central section and adapted to be carried around the package and secured, to hold all the folding-in iiaps in engagement, substantially as de.

4. The package herein described consisting of two pieces of material laid one upon the other at right angles with relation to each other, each formed of a flat central portion and transversely-corrugated ends, means for attaching said pieces together, thereby presenting a central rigid section and two pairs of transversely-corrugated folding-in flaps, and means for holding said flaps when they are folded in and brought into engagement wi th each other, substantially as described.
