GLOVE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 586,588, dated July 20, 1897.

To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, EMIL L. BLUN, of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Gloves, of which the following is a specification.

My improvement relates to gloves which are reinforced at places subjected to the greatest wear.

My improvement consists in a glove having on the inner side a reinforcing-piece extending over the backs of the tips of the fingers, thence along the fronts of the fingers, thence along the palm of the hand to the wrist portion of the glove, the said glove having a thumb-lining and the said reinforcing-piece being secured along the edges of the body and fingers of the glove and also the inner edge of the thumb-lining.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view of the front of a glove turned inside out. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section taken through the same lengthwise of one of the fingers.

Similar letters of reference designate corresponding parts in both figures.

A designates a glove, which may be made of any suitable materialas, for instance, of a woven or knitted fabric. It may be made in the ordinary or any suitable manner.

Bis a reinforcing-piece extending from the wrist portion of the glove entirely across the palm of the hand along the fronts of the fingers and over the tips and backs of the tip portions of the fingers, the entire piece being secured by stitching along the sides of the glove and along the sides of the fingers and being on the inside of the glove. It has a thumb-openin g 1) corresponding to the thumbopening a in the front of the glove. There is a lining-piece O for the entire thumb of the glove, and this is secured to the reinforcingpiece A by stitching and also to the thumb of the glove.

That I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A glove having a thumb-lining and provided on its inner side with a reinforcingpiece having a thumb-opening and extending entirely across the palm to the Wrist portion of the glove, and separated strips forming a part of said piece and extending along the fronts of the fingers, and over the tips thereof for a short distance down the backs, the said piece being secured along the edges of the body and fingers of the glove, and also the inner edge of the thumb-lining, substantially as described.
