JOI-IN IVILLIAM KRON, OF NEV PHILADELPHIA, OHIO.
SPITTOON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 586,189, dated July 13, 1897.
Application filed 311118 20 1895- Tu @ZZ 'IN1/Um, 'it 7111151/ cm1/081171,:
Be it known that I, JOHN WILLIAM KRON, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Ihiladelphia,in the county of Tuscarawas and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spittoons; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as Will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification. My invention has relation to spittoons, and
4more particularly to stationary or ixed spittoons for saloons and bar-roems3 and the ob ject is to provide a simple, cheap, and cen venient device of this class; and to this end the novelty consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the same,as Will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings the same reference-num erals indicate the same parts of the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the front of a bar or saloon-counter with my improved spittoon in position in the ioor. Fig. 2 is a similar vieur of the spittoon detached from the floor and having the open-slatted cover removed. Fig. 3 is a similar view of the openslatted guard.
8 represents the usual bar, and .11 the footrail, supported by the standards 12 12.
2 represents an oblong rectangular sheetmetal trough formed With parallel vertical side Walls et /1 and parallel vertical end Walls 1 1.
14 represents the longitudinally-inclined plane bottom, its lower end being provided With an outlet-pipe 5, the mouth of which is Serial No. 596,356. (No model.)
flush With the upper face of the inclined plane bottom 11.
The vertical end Walls 1 1 are each provided with an integral upwardly-projecting ductile ear 10.
6 represents the open-slatted cover7 co1nprising the longitudinal parallel side rails 7 7 and the transverse Slat-bars 9 9 and the eentral brace-bar 8. Then the slatted guard 6 is placed in position on the trough 2, the integral ductile ears 10 10 are turned outwardly over the end slats 9' 9 to removably sec-ure the slatted guard G in place Iiush With the horizontal plane of the upper ends of the walls and ends. n
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States,
A flxed spittoon, comprising the sheet-metal trough 2, formed with vertical parallel side Walls 11 4 and parallel vertical end Walls 1 1, having upwardly-projecting integral ductile ears 10 10, a longitudinally-inclined plane bottom 111, and an outlet-pipe 5, located at the lowermost end of said inclined plane bottom, and a removable open-slatted cover 6, the transverse end slats of which are adapted to engage said ductile ears 10 10 on the longitudinal ends ofsaid trough, to removably secure said slatted cover in place, the Whole constructed and arranged substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of tWo Witnesses.
JOIIN WILLIAM KRON.
J. H. Knorr.
