UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPHIOHISHIMA, OF NEV YORK, N. Y.
LlNK-CUFF HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 578,456, dated March 9, 1897. Application iiled September 25, 1896l Serial No. 606,954. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, JOSEPH IoHIsHIMA, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Link-Cuff Holders, of which -the following is a full, clear, and exact del jury to the sleeve-lining of the coat; it is concealed from view when in place in the cuff it furnishes a firm and secure fastening for the cu to the shirt-sleeve, and automatically adjusts itself to any angle to which the cuff may be pressed or bent.
The nature of my invention and the manner in which the same is or may be carried into effect can best be explained and understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a perspective view of a linkcuff holder made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a transverse section. Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the holder, and Fig. 4 is an edge or side view of the same.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents the cuff-holder proper, one end of which is provided with a button or stud B, whose head is either jointed or solid with the stem, as may be desired. The other end is provided witha hole C or other suitable loop for tting around the stud or button of the band on the shirt-sleeve to secure the cuff in proper adjusted position. The holder properis jointed at or near its center, and for this purpose is preferably provided with a hinge D, which, when the holder is in use and placedin position, will automatically adjust itself to any style in which the cuff is Worn, either fiat or round style.
In using my improved device, subject matter of my application, the end'having the hole O in it is passed over the button or stud on the band of the shirt-sleeve. One of the lower ends of the link-cuff is then buttoned onto this same stud in the shirt-sleeve band. The other end of the cuff is now buttoned ontothat end of the device having the jointed or solid button B, whereby both ends of the cuc are firmly and evenly secured upon the band of the shirt-sleeve.
It will be noticed that a cuff-holder -thus formed is beneath the cud and wholly concealed from view; holds the sides or ends of -the cuff closely together, (allowing no flaring or gaping apart of the endsg) prevents the wearing out or injuring of the lining of the coat-sleeve; does not injure the shirt-sleeve, and adjusts with a marked degree of nicety the cuff throughout its length, so as to make the size of the cu the same at both ends; and, furthermore, the device being ieXible at its center it will automatically adjust itself to any position necessary, whether the cuff be worn in a flattened style, as is now very usual'7 or in a rounded fashion.
Having described my invention, what I claim is- A cuff-holder having a button or stud at one end and a hole or loop at the other end, the parts carrying the said loop and button being jointed together, substantially as and for the purposes hereinbefore set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 23d day of September', 1896.
JOSEPH IOHISI-IIMA.
