Description

'(No Model.) I
J. KLOSS. BLAGK HEAD TWBEZERS.
No. 575,356. Patented Jan. 19, 1897.
M Mao SS,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN KLOSS, OF ALLEGHENY, PENNSYLVANIA.
BLACKHEAD-TWEEZERS.
' SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 575,356, dated January 19, 1897.' Application filed December 14, 1895. erial No. 572,174. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN KLoss, a citizen of the United States, residing at Allegheny, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certainnew and useful Improvements in Blackhead-Tweezers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to improved blackhead-tweezers; and it consists in forming the same from a single piece of metal together with a band to confine the parts together, as will be fully described'hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved blackheadtweezers, which is constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is an end elevation of my improved tweezers. Fig. 4 is a plan View of the blank from which the tweezers is formed, a portion thereof being broken away.
To put my invention into practice, I form, from a piece of spring-steel or other suitable substance, ablank form of the tweezers, consisting of a strip 1, having at its middle a small circularopening 2 and triangular openings 3 and recesses 4: at either side of the said central opening 2 for the purpose of admitting light and giving the same elasticity. Small projections 5 at the one side of the plate are formed, and corresponding notches 6 at the other, which, when the tweezers are finished, will interlock and prevent lateral movement of the parts. The two ends of the strip or plate 1 are pointed, as at 7, by removing a portion of the metal in any desired form. This blank thus prepared is bent the one section or half over the other and a band 8 of metal placed over the same to hold the parts or sections together, having first dished or bent the blank in the form of a semicircle to form the tweezers cylindrical in form.
This device is especially devised for the purpose of removing blackheads from the skin, and the manner of operation is to place the small circular opening 2 over the blackhead and press the implement inward. The rounded end of the device will prevent the same from injuring the skin, and the blackhead will be forced out.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The herein-described tweezers consisting of a continuous piece of metal bent upon itself, the rounded end of its handle portion provided with an opening or aperture in the center, said handle portion having openings and recesses at each side of the central opening and interlocking projections and notches or recesses, and the clasp or band slipped upon said handle portion, holding the sections of the tweezers together, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I hereunto affix my signature this 31st day of August, A. D. 1894.
JOHN KLOSS. [n s.]
In presence of- ALBERT J. WALKER, M. E. HARRISON.
