IMPROVEMENT IN INI TIAL STUDS.

Specification forming part of Letters ,Patent No. 56,791, dated July 31, 1866.

To all whom 'it may concern:

Be it known that I, ABRAHAM W. OVER- BAUGH, of Nen7 York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Mode of' Manufacturing Initial Jewelry or Ornaments 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists in ak separate initial plate, as shown in Figure C. This plate can be inserted or changed at pleasure and fastened into a rim, as shown in Fig.

D, by reason of a plate attached to the shank of button, as shown by Plate E.

Figure A is a perspective viewr of a sleevebutton. Fig. B is a front view. Fig. C is an initial plate. Fig. D is a back view of rim. Fig. E is a side view of shank of button, to which is attached fastening for initial plate. Fig. F is a front view of same.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The application of the changeable initial plate in the manufacture ot' buttons, pins, earrings, and other jewelry or ornaments generally, as hereinabove described.
