Description

(No Model.)
'A. SCHQENFELDER.
' SWEEP.
No. 559,814. Patented May 12, 1896.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUGUST SCIIOENFELDER, OF BRENI-IAM, TEXAS, ASSIGNOR TO IV. SCIIUERENBURG, OF IVASHINGTON COUNTY, TEXAS.
SWEEP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 559,814, dated May 12, 1896 Application filed October 23, 1895. Serial No. 566,594. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be itknown thatI,AUGUSTSCHOENFELDER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brenhani, in the county of Washington and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in MiddleBreaker Flows; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The special object of the invention is to make a middle-breaker which will be adapted to do its work thoroughly with the least possible draft and which will not be liable to get out of kilter.
Figure 1 of the drawings is an elevation givin g a perspective view of my middle-breaker, and Fig. 2 a detail view of my peculiarlyshaped straps or plates.
In the drawings, A represents the beam of the sweep, which is made in one piece and provided with the obtuse-angled metallic strap a with the bend a. To the strap a are attached the handles H H, which may be made of any of the usual forms or in any preferred shape.
L is a shoe connected with the rear end of the beam A by means of the offset a so as to give the beam a seat upon the edge of the shoe and allow its end to be bolted to the side of the shoe. This brings the shoe L in the same vertical plane with the beam A, which is a great desideratum. On the front end of the shoe Lis formed an integral point 0, which curves up rearwardly on top and is undercut to form a socket for the front end of the moldboard M. The sides of this moldboard are laterally supported by the strap a, while the shoe is braced by a rod N, which is bolted to one side thereof and passes up between the handles II, where it is securely held at any desired adjustment by the jamnuts 0 0.
That I claim as new is- 1. In sweeps, the metallic strap a obtuseangled and provided with the bend a in combination with beam, handles and moldboard as shown and described.
2. In sweeps, the combination of a shoe L having an integral point C curved up rearwardly on top and undercut to form a socket; a beam provided with the oifset a a moldboard having a point to enter said socket and the obtuse-angled bent strap a laterally supporting the moldboard, all substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
AUGUST SCHOENFELDER.
