To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, TILLIAM It. CRAIG, of Columbia, in the county of Maury and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvement-sin Double-Shovel Flows, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved double-shovel plow. Fig. 2 is a sectional side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a sectional front elevation of the same,takcn through the line a: :r, Fig. 2.

The object of this invention is to provide doubleshovel plows constructed in such a manner that they will not be liable to become choked with rubbish, and the handles can be readily adjusted at any desired height.

The invention consists in the construction and combination of various parts ofthe doubleshovel plow, as will be hereinafter fully described.

A represents the beam, to the opposite sides of the middle part of which are secured by a bolt, 0, the forward ends of the handles 1-3.

To the beam A, in the rear of the forward ends of the handles B, is secured by a bolt, L, the middle part of the cross-bar D, the end parts of which are bent downward and forward to bring them into proper position to receive the plows E. The crossbar D is secured to the beam A at such an angle that one ofthe plows E will be at such a distance in advance of the other that the rear plow will not be liable to be choked or clogged by rubbish and soil from the forward plow. The cross-bar D is held in position by the braces F, the rear ends of which are secured to the said cross-bar at or near its bends by bolts G. The forward ends of the braces F are secured to the opposite sides of the beam A by a bolt, H. The bolts L H may be removed at any time to allow removal of the plow-bar D and plows E when it may be desired to connect the harrow or scraper shown in my prior patent,l\lo. 296,732, to the beam instead of the plows, and at the hole through which the bolt L passes. The rear end of the beam A is bent or curved laterally, and is provided with a hole, a, intended to receive the attaching bolt or pin of either the harrow or scraper shown in my aforesaid prior patent, for use interchangeably as occasion may require.

To the rear part of the beam A are secured by bolts I the lower ends of the braces J, which may be made in one piece or separate, as may be desired. The braces J are curved forward upon the arcs of circles having their centers in the bolt 0. The upper parts of the braces J overlap the similarly-curved bars K, the upper ends of which are secured bybolts or rivets to the upper parts of the handles B. The bars K are slotted at k to receive bolts M, passing through the upper ends of the braces J, and whereby when the nuts in of the bolts are loosened the handles B may be readily adjnstedhigher or lower and be fastened by the bolts to suit the stature or convenience of the plowman.

Having thus described my inventiomwhatl claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The combinatiomwith the plow-beam A, the handles 13, and the plows E,of the inclined cross-bar D, having its ends bent downward and forward to bring them into position to receive the said plows, and the braces F, substantially as herein shown and described, whereby said plows will be firmly supported and kept from becoming clogged, as set forth.

2. A double-shovel plow consisting of the beam A, having its end curved laterally, the inclined cross-bar D, secured to the beam and having its ends bent downward, the braces F, secured to the beam and to the crossbar, the braces J, secured to the beam, and the bandles B, secured to the beam and provided with the bars or hangers K, adj ustably secured to the braces, substantially as herein shown and described.
