TROUSERS-STRETCHER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 548,049, dated October 15, 1895.

Be it known that I, HENRY O. GREEN, of Louisville, in the county of Jefierson and State of Kentucky, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Trousers-Stretchers, of which the following is a specification.

My invention is a trousers-stretcher and includes a pair of strips kept apart under the tension of a spring, the force of this spring being increased or diminished by the operator.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a view of the device ready for insertion in the leg of the trousers. Fig. 2 is a view'of the parts detached.

In the figures two strips are shown at A A as having mortised recesses D D, adapted to receive the bent portions 0 of a spring B, which is bent symmetrically on each side. These bent extensions are connected by inwardly-bowed portions, and the central bent points on each side are connected by V-shaped Serial No. 543,168- (No model.)

The bends C are inserted in the recesses D, as shown in Fig. 1, and the bowed portions are connected by a hook E, thus confining the parts of the spring and bringing the strips A together. In this position the stretcher is inserted in the leg of the trousers and the hook detached, which releases the spring, and the tension is placed upon the trousers.

What I claim is A trousers stretcher comprising a pair of strips and an interposed spring having bends C, 0, adapted to fit recesses in the strips, bowed parts between the bends and a confining hook, substantially as described.
