Description

(No Model.)
S. J. BRENNAN.
TOWEL HOLDER. No 537,814. Patented Apr. 23, 1895.
1E STATES STEPHEN J. BRENNAN, OF HOLYOKE, MASSACHUSETTS.
TOWEL-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 537,814, dated April 23, 1 895.
Application filed February 27, 1895. Serial No, 539,879- (No model.) i
T aZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, STEPHEN J. BRENNAN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Holyoke, in the county of Hampden ,and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Towel-Holders, of which the followingis a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in holders for towels, especially roller-towels, the object being to devise a holder which will be as desirable as the usual roller and the bracket supports therefor, but which shall be much cheaper of construction, more easily set up and also less cumbersome.
The invention consists in a towel-holder composed of thin metal formed or constructed all substantially as will hereinafter fully appear and be set forth in the claim.
The improved holder is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front perspective view of the holder as set up in use. Fig. 2 is a rear perspective view of one end portion of the holder.
The holder consists of a rectangular blank or piece, A, of thin metal having centrally therein a long narrow aperture, b, with the portions bordering the aperture rearwardly curled as seen at d, to give a rounded, nonabrading edge.
The holder is slit, as seen at f, longitudinally from the central aperture to one edge whereby, by drawing the upper portion forwardly and the other portion rearwardly and springing the parts, the endless towel may be introduced.
A catch device, B, is provided at the end of the holder for holding the separable end portions against displacement, facewise, and also transversely at right angles to the face. This catch may consist of a socket, g, formed by the strap, 9 soldered on the part at one side of the slit, and the hook-formed strip, 7L, soldered on the opposite part, all so as to be connected and disconnected in an obvious manner by springing the portions of the holder apart.
The holder, by having the perforations, j, j, may be mounted upon the Wall or other support by the screwshanked hooks, m, m, as shown, or by nails or screws, as manifest.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The towel-holder consisting of the sheet of thin metal having therein an elongated aperture with the portions bordering the aperture rearwardly curled, and formed, as to one end portion, separable, for the engagement of the towel with the holder, and having a catch de- Vice for detachably uniting the separable portions, substantially as described.
