UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICEO W. O. OHOATE, OF WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
LETTER AND PAPER FILE.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 53,114, dated March 13, 1866.
To all whom fit may concern:
Be it known thatI, W. O. OI-IOATE, of Washington, in the county of Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented a new and Improved File Band, and I hereby declare that the following` is a full, clear, and exact description ot' the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part ot' this specification, in which the figure is a perspective view, and to the letters ot' reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in a leband for the. purpose of tiling letters or other papers in bundles.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to de side. The upper part or section, B, has on each side a angcd piece of brass or tin, b, in which are notches, holes, or grooves, so formed as to receive thespring hook or catch a, thereby unitin g the two parts or sections together, forming a square band, which incloses theletters or papers in a secure manner.
It is obvious that by chan ging the wire catch t0 different hooks or teeth ot' the rack the file is rendered adjustable, so as to contain a greater or smaller amount of papers, Src.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
An improved tile-band formed in two parts or sections of a square, having hooks or catches, notches or holes, as herein described.
