TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, JOSEF FLEIseHL, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Paper File; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 represents a face view of this invention.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal section of the same, taken in the plane indicated by the line we, fig. 1.
Figure 3 is a horizontal section of the same, the line 3/ y, fig. 1, indicating the plane" of section.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
This invention relates to a paper file, which can be used for one single paper or for a number of papers. For the purpose of securing a single paper, a segmental cylinder is slipped over' the side bar of the paper file and over the paper, so as to hold the paper without injuring it in the least. If two or more papers are to be filed in the paper file, adjustable spring-clamps are secured to the side bar of the paper file, and the papers to be filed are held between the springs and the flattened surface of said bar.
A represents a paper file made of rattan, or any other suitable material, and ornamented in any desirable manner. One of the side bars, a, of this paper file is left round, and a segmental cylindrical clamp, 15, is made to slip on said side bar, as shown in figs. 1 and 3. This clamp serves to retain one paper, which is first placed round the bar, a, and then the segmental clamp is slipped over the paper and the bar, securing the two firmly together without the least injury to the paper. The other side bar, 0, is flattened, and its ends are so shaped that they fit into caps, cl, from which extend the clamping springs, e. The papers to be filed are placed in the proper order on the flat surface of the bar a, and by applying the caps d the springs e are brought to bear on the papers and to press them tightly against the bar 0. By these means a large number of papers can be filed in the proper order, and the papers are not pierced by pins or otherwise injured. Each paper can be easily removed and replaced by another, and the handling of the file is convenient. A. suitable handle, B, serves to hold the paper file while reading, and a ring, 0, may be applied for the purpose of suspending the same from a suitable rack in a convenient position.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A paper file provided with a segmental clamp 12, and with spring-clamps cl e, which act in combination with the bars a c, substantially in the manner set forth.
JOSEF FLEISCHL.
