UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL SOHOENBRUN, OF NEW YORK, N. YQASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO ABRAHAM SELLNER, OF SAME PLACE.
TROUSERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 518,727, dated April 24, 1894.
Application filed danuary 26,1894. Serial No. 498,116- (No model.)
To to whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL SoHoENBRUN, of New York city, New York, have invented an Improvement in Trousers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in trousers more particularly designed for bicyclists and which are constructed with a View of permitting them to be readily put on and taken OE, and of rendering them convenient in wear.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is an elevation of my improved trousers partly in section, showing the flap 5, opened. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section on line 2, 2, Fig. 1, with the flap closed; Fig. 3 a cross section on line 3 3, Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 a cross section on line 4, 4:, Fig. 1, showing the belt worn on the inside.
The lettersla, represent a pair of trousers, provided above the crotch, with a downwardly folding flap b, adapted to be fastened by a catch 1). The trousers are so cut, that they form an opening a, above the flap, and that they converge and overlap above such opening, as at a to be united by a fastening 0.
At their upper edge,.the trousers are provided with an inner pocket d, adapted for the reception of an inner belt, and with aseries of external loops or straps e, adapted for the reception of an outer belt. The flap b, is provided with a corresponding inner pocket d, open at both ends and an outer strap e.
If the belt A is to be worn so as to be concealed, it is slippedinto the pocket (1, passed 3 5 outwardly through slits f. to the right and left of the flap and is thence passed into the pocket d (Fig. 4.) If the belt is to be worn so as to be exposed, it is passed through the straps e, (Fig. 1) and through the strap e, of the flap.
I prefer to make each leg of the trousers of a single piece of material, connected by an outer seam 9, but having no inner seam, so that no pressure is exerted against the leg of the rider.
What I claim is- A pair of trousers having an inner pocket and outer straps, a flap having a corresponding inner pocket and outer strap, and a belt adapted to be received by said pockets or straps, substantially as specified.
SAMUEL SGHOENBRUN.
