Application iiled October 4, 1893. Serial No. 487,137- (No model.)
To a/ZZ whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, JOB DAVIS, of Auburn, iu the county of Cayuga, in the State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Childrens Rockers, of which the following, taken in connection with the accom.- panying drawings, is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to rocking-chairs,
adapted for the use of small children.
My object is to produce a rocking-chair which will accommodate two or more children, to be used principally for amusement in the nursery, and to that end my invention cousists in the several new and novel combinations of parts hereinafter described, and which are specifically set forth in the claims hereunto annexed. It is constructed as follows, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1, is a side View of the device complete, one of the arms being raised, as shown in dotted lines. Fig. 2, is a top plan View thereof.
Similar lettersof reference indicate corresponding parts.
A-, are the rockers constructed substantially as shown inthe drawings, and provided upon their outer lateral faces with fenders -asecured thereto in any ordinary and well-known manner, and serve as a guard to keep the feet from getting under the rocker. The tread of the rocker is provided with a layer of rubber -b-, or other similar material, or may consist of a rubber hose secured thereto for the purpose of making it noiseless. The rockers are secured together laterally at any distance apart by cross-bars cand the corresponding opposite seats -dand the loor -e-. It is also provided with suitable side arms -fsupported in any manner desired.
B-, are standards secured to the rockers as shown, and are provided at any suitable and convenient distance with a seat -gextending between them, and are also provided at their upper ends with a cross-piece -h- 1n which is an opening -'iso that the body of a child may extend up through the same and be supported therein.
To the cross-piece -h- I hinge the outwardly and preferably downwardly extending arms, or bracket, -;j, as shown in Fig. 2, the inner face of the arms -f being provided withshoulders vor lugs upon which the free end of said bracket restsf-the obj ect of which is to aiord a suitable and convenient means for supporting the child upon the seats -d-. When it is desired to remove them therefrom, the bracket -jmay be raised to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1.
What Iclaim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The herein described childs rocker, comprising rockers, provided with laterally extending fenders, means for securing said rockers together laterally, seats secured therein and side arms. y i
2. The herein described rocker, comprising rockers provided with laterally extending fenders and having their treads provided with rubber,or other material, means for securing them together laterally, seats secured therein and side arms.
In witness whereof l have hereunto set my hand this 21st day of September, 1893.
JOB DAVIS.
