specification of Letters Batam,
Patented oet. 29, 1907.
Applieation filed August l0. 1906. Serial llo. 329.954.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that l, HERMANN OnnmrANN, merchant, and a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Osuabruck, in Germany, have invented certain new' and useful Improvements in Slings, oi which the lollowing is a specification.
This invention relates to a portable scat lor children, designed more'particularly for enablingl tired children to be given suitable intervals oi rest while walking with adults, Without interrupting the progress oi the walk. The seat comprises only a small number of parts, which can easily be placed in a coatpocket or the like, and it thus ailords a convenient substitute for peramlnilators and so-call ed go-carts and th e like, which occupy a considerable amount oi space and are unsuitable lor use onl bad roads.
The invention is illustrated in the annexed drawing.
The seat consists oi a sling a and a back-rest e. The sling u., on which the child sits, is ol flexible material oi suitable width and is provided at each end with a transverse handle b attached thereto and parallel4 to the ends ol the slingA rhe sling a is ot' such length thata child may be suspended therein clear el the ground when the handles are carried by the hands ol adults. The ends oi the back-rest or support c are connected at right-angles near to the ends oi the sling a, and may for this purpose be provided with rows oi holes alined with its length and adapted to engage studs or buttons d attached in a row transversely to the sling near each end. The buttons d may be arranged in several rows to allowvof attaching the back-rest at such height as is best suited to the size oi the child.
When the seat is not in use the support c is detached, and the support and sling are then rolled up separately or together. Reduced thus to the smallest possible bulk, the parts can easily be placed in a coat-pocket or the like.
I am aware that' slings have been proposed for the carriage ot children in which the carrying strip passes over the shoulder oi the adult, and that chair like 'slings have been proposed lor invalids carried by yokes and shoulder straps but these are more bulky and inconvenient than the more simple sling proposed by What therefore l claim as my invention and desire lo secure by Letters Patent of the United VStates isz- In a sling the combination of n sling band (t buttons (7 in transverse rows thereon, handles l) l) transversely placed at the ends of the hand and a back band o having rows of button holes alined with its length for attachment to said buttons substantially as set forth.'
ln witness whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two witnesses.
p HERMANN OEIIRMANN.
