DRAFTING TABLE. No. 516,089. Patented Mar. 6, 1894.
llllllllllllllllllllllls&llllllllfll Ml WITNESSES: INVENTQH QM B, $7 %j UNITED STATES JOHN H. FRY, OF GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN.
DRAFTIN G-TAB LE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 516,089, dated March 6,
Application filed May 26,1893. Serial No. 475,616. (No model.)
To all) whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN H. FRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Grand Rapids,in the county of Kent and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Iniproveinents in Drafting- Tables; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to a drafting table.
My object is to improve upon the construction of, and provide these tables with the means of adjusting the top at various angles and vertically, and consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of the various parts hereinafter described and particnlarly pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1. is a side elevation of a device embodying my invention; Fig. 2. front elevation of same; Fig. 3. detail of foot lever and brace partly in section, and Fig. 4 cross section of leg on line l-i.
Like letters indicate like parts throughout the drawings.
The top is represented by the letter B. and is hinged to the posts 0. which are adj ustably secured to and supported by leg brackets D. by boltsL. and have brackets G and V tongues C engaging V grooves in the leg brackets D. forming vertical ways for vertical adjustment.
A is a board hinged to the top 15 near one edge as shown in Fig. 1. The posts 0. are connected by the brace N. on which is carried upon one side the foot rest M. and upon the other the trip lever I. pivoted to bracket H and having the enlarged end forming a shoulder or hearing J. with a concave face as shown in Fig. 3. for engaging the brace G. pivoted to the top B. at its upper end and provided with a series of notches G at its lower end for engaging the stud K. The drafting board A. is hinged to top B. and forms the top of the table and cover for B. and is provided with an adjusting device consisting of the revolublc bar E E arranged underneath the front margin, bent to form notched arms E. E. forming braces engaging loops F. on top B. and handle E, and is provided with a small catch a. It will now be seen that either or both the posts 0. may be vertically adj usted by loosening the bolt L. and the top B. inclined at any angle and held in place by the brace G. and lever I. and the board A. inclined at a different angle or placed horizontally by its adjusting braces as heretofore described.
I claim- 1. In a drafting table, the combination with the vertically adjustable posts and the hinged top thereon, of the board hinged to the top, the brace pivoted on the under side of the top and provided with notches, and the pivoted trip lever having a concave face to bear on said brace, substantially as specified.
2. In a drafting table, the combination with the vertically adjustable posts and the top hinged thereon, of the board hinged to the top, the brace pivoted to the under side of the top and provided with notches, trip lever against said brace, and the stud K on the connecting bar of the posts to engage the notch es of the said brace, as set forth.
3. The improved drafting table described, consisting of the leg brackets, the posts vertically adj ustable thereon, the brackets at the upper ends of the posts, the top centrally hinged to the upper ends of the posts, the board hinged at one edge to the top, the brace hinged to the under side of the top and notched at its lower end, the pivoted trip lever, the stud K to engage the notches of the brace, the loops on the top, and the revoluble bar on the under side of said board and having handle and integral depending end portions which are notched and pass loosely through said loops, all substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHN H. FRY.
