EAR-COMPRESSING CAP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 488,802, dated December 27, 1892.
Application filed October 6, 1891. Serial No. 407,853. (No model.) Patented in England January 8, 1891, No. 367.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADELAIDE SOPHIA TUR- NER, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at Ghiswick, London, in the county of Middlesex, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sleeping- Caps for Covering the Ears, (for which I have obtained a patent in Great Britain, No. 367, bearing date January 8,1891;) and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of theinvention, which will en able others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention is primarily intended for children to keep their ears flat while sleeping and owing to the construction no heating of the head takes place from Wearing it.
To enable my invention to be properly understood I will proceed to fully describe the same by aid of the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a childs head showing the cap in position, and Fig. 2

The longitudinal tapes Bare joinedtogether fiat at a point just below and in front of the ear, and strings D pass beneath the chin and secure the cap on the head. To enable the cap to be elastic, the tapes have a length of elastic material 0 between them.
Having thus described my invention, WhatI claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:-
An article of manufacture, to wit, a cap made of a number of strips of tape with elastic Webbing let in, one of said strips being made to fit snugly over the forehead, another of said strips being made to fit snugly over the lower portion of the back of the head, and a net work of strips of tape between the two said strips, the saidcap terminating in a point justbelow and in front of the ears, with strings passing beneath the chin for holding said cap in place,substantiallyas and for the purposes described.
